Steam Cleaner Overdue

Includes attachments/accessories pack.

If the steamer stops producing steam and then starts again or produces a slower-than-usual steam flow, we may need to decalcify the steamer. Feel free to decalcify yourself or let a volunteer know so we can do it before the next person borrows it.

How to decalcify:

1. Just fill the water tank with 1/3 white vinegar and 2/3 distilled water (tap water works as well).

2. Run the steamer until half the mixture has steamed.

3. Unplug and allow it to rest for 30 minutes.

4. Dump out remaining mixture.

5. Rinse and repeat... as many times as necessary until steam returns to normal (could be 2-3 times).

6. Run a cycle of fresh, cold water through the steamer before using it on your fabrics.

Tips:

  • Try to keep the unit about one inch from the surface of the item you are steaming and in constant motion to prevent potential damage.
  • Never allow your steamer to run without water in it. This could cause damage to the heating element and wiring.
  • Do not add salt, bleach or dye to your steamer water. They will corrode or clog internal parts.
  • Do not store steamer with the water still in it.
  • Do not move your steamer by pulling on the power cord, as this could loosen the internal wiring.
  • Refrain from hanging clothes to steam on metal hangers. The metal could become heated and scald or burn clothes or skin.
